Featured Cruise Line: Cruise West

Cruise West has offered Alaska cruise vacations for more than 30 years. The company now owns and operates a cruising yacht plus a fleet of nine small cruise ships with capacities ranging from 78 to 138 guests. The majority of Cruise West's vessels are American-owned, American-built and American crewed. The atmosphere onboard is casual, and the experience is centered around discovering the culture and nature of the destinations you're visiting. The small ship atmosphere leads to a completely different onboard experience that attracts those that want to experience a cruise truly centered around the destination. While CruiseWest specializes in Alaska, other destinations they visit include US coastal voyages, the California Wine Country, Great Lakes Cruises, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, Mexico, Japan and even Asia. more

Featured Ship: Allure of the Seas

Allure of the Seas is the second ship in the Oasis class of ships and is owned by Royal Caribbean International. Allure's maiden voyage was November 2010, and it was built in STX Europe shipyard in Turku, Finland. At 220,000 gross tons, this ship hosts 5400 guests and 2165 crew. This is one of the first ships to have interior stateooms with balconies facing interior open spaces. The ship features a zip-line, a casino,a mini-golf course, multiple night clubs, several bars and lounges, a karaoke club, comedy club, four swimming pools, volleyball and basketball courts, theme parks and nurseries for children. Onboard activities are organized into seven themed areas called neighborhoods. Neighborhoods include Central Park, Pool & Sports Zone, Spa & Fitness Center, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Youth Zone and Entertainment Place. The sister ship to Allure of the Seas is Oasis of the Seas. Both ships sail from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean. more

Featured Destination: Alaska

The ship then turns around and cruises back to either Seattle or Vancouver where passengers disembark the ship to spend a couple of extra days in Vancouver, Victoria, or Seattle or they may just fly home. Since they begin and end in Seattle or Vancouver, cruise passengers prefer Alaska-Roundtrip Cruises because of availability of better airline flight schedules and fares. With Seattle only 3 ½ hours from the cruise piers in Vancouver, there are even more flight options to consider. If you plan to use your airline frequent flier miles for your Alaska Cruise . . . book your trip early. Frequent Flier seats go quickly. Alaska Roundtrip Cruises are also very popular for families. Most will maintain very active kids programs and in some instances have special shore excursions just for them. If you require a cabin that can accommodate 4 passengers, book your cabin early. Triple and quad cabins sell out quickly. more
